From the Rainiest Place on Earth
A Gin Born Of Rainwater

Two of the wettest places on the planet, Mawsynram and Cherrapunji, endow us with rainwater which helps craft our gin. There is, however, a paradox of abundance and lack that defines our hills, for drinking water is often scarce during winters. And hence we harvest the rain — not just for the story, but as an obligation to give back where we take from. And with this begins the story of Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin.
A Story From a Place Where The Clouds Come to Rest
Our Origin
What begins with the harvesting of rainwater, evolves to borrow its character from a unique set of botanicals which form a part of the rich history and vibrant culinary culture of our region.
These botanicals infuse our gin with a deep sense of place and an identity that is synonymous to our soil, our rain, and above all, our citrus.

Aromatics & Botanicals
Our basket bursts with vibrant flavors of fruits, spices, peppers, and teas, lovingly sourced by local farmers from our surrounding provinces.

Grown only in Meghalaya, Khasi mandarin is often called the King of Oranges for its bright, natural citrus note, unmatched by any other.

Native to Assam, Kaji Nemu or Citrus Limon is an indigenous variety of lemon, renowned for its distinctive aroma and juiciness.

Sohmarit Khlaw or long pepper is a wild pepper native to Meghalaya, with a unique aromatic profile often described as a mix of heat and citrus.

The smoked tea we use comes from deep within the Lushai Hills, where the practice of drying and smoking tea leaves is as old as the hills themselves.

Cultivated organically in the pristine, high-altitude Himalayan region, Amomum Subulatum – the black cardamom we get from Sikkim, is revered for its quality and intense aroma.

Sourced from Arunachal and Sikkim, Juniper Recura is a type of berry which carry an earthy, floral, and slightly spicy undertone.

A bottle of Meghalaya,
life in color
In our lands where women lead and take center stage, a beaming Khasi lady in her jainsem is seen carrying a khoh—the unique wicker basket used to transport Khasi mandarins great distances without squishing them. She moves through valleys where bees pollinate grand orchids, and where clouds, hills, butterflies, and foxes abound. An iconic Bedford and Co. bus, a familiar sight until recently on Shillong's roads, gives one a glimpse of the town's irresistible flair for the quaint and picturesque.

Meet the Founder
Mayukh Hazarika

For Mayukh Hazarika, this journey began with a simple question – why hasn't the world tasted the soul of the Northeast? Born and raised in Shillong, shaped by the rain and rhythms of Meghalaya, Mayukh went on to build a successful career with some of India's top consumer brands. An IIM Indore graduate with a sharp marketing mind and a deeper sense of place, he eventually found himself drawn back home not just by nostalgia, but by a purpose.
He returned to create something the region had never seen before – a gin that captures the spirit of Cherrapunji. Crafted from harvested rainwater, distilled with native botanicals, and housed in a sustainable steel bottle, Cherrapunji Gin is a story of identity and quiet rebellion – a story that goes back to make something that can finally go forward.
